Going behind the design of our new and improved pushchair

Micralite – our sister brand – have given their award-winning GetGo pushchair a makeover, and we’re totally here for it! Cassie Conboy, the fabric designer behind the upgrade, talks The Edit through what’s new.

What’s new about GetGo?

GetGo was designed to make parenting easier – and nothing’s changed there! The new and improved pushchair puts the power in your hands, allowing you to customise your GetGo to suit your tastes, lifestyle and parenting.

We wanted to give parents the option to design their GetGo their own way, so that’s why we’ve introduced four new hood colours – Sunbeam, Aura, Carbon and Forest – and two chassis colourways – Black and Platinum. Drawing inspiration from nature, the new colourways introduce subtle textures, joyous prints and tonal pairings into our range. GetGo now uses fabrics crafted from recycled yarns in its hood, seat unit, liner and carrycot too… but more on that later!

GetGo’s pushchair seat is suitable from birth to approximately 4 years old and will adapt as your little one grows. The hood’s new multiway feature means the height can be easily adjusted as your child gets taller to provide even more comfort when you’re on the go.

What accessories can I use with GetGo?

GetGo can be transformed into the ultimate Micralite travel system – with everything you need for every kind of adventure.

For travel, GetGo is compatible with a range of car seats which can be attached to the chassis, including the Silver Cross Dream i-Size infant carrier – the safest infant carrier ever tested by ADAC.

When it’s time to nap, Micralite’s stylish carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeping – on and off the GetGo chassis. It’s lined with soft bamboo to keep your little one comfortable and safe wherever they’re snoozing.

We know parents need to be as comfy as their kids too, so we created the ultra-cosy pram mitts. Attaching to the pram handlebar, your hands will be as snug as a bug on those chilly strolls.

How can customers customise their GetGo?

It’s really easy! Customers first choose their preferred chassis colour, then their favourite hood and coordinating seat liner. Next, it’s time to pick your pack from our range of accessories and add-ons designed for every kind of journey with your little one. Finally, add an optional overnight sleeping approved carrycot, and you’re good to go!

What’s the Cosy Pod?

The Cosy Pod of dreams! Literally. Our consumer research established that parents are looking for more storage-friendly solutions when it comes to their pushchair, and Cosy Pod was the answer.

Suitable from birth, Cosy Pod attaches directly to the pushchair seat using the 5-point safety harness, acting as a newborn support with its adjustable head hugger. The naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic bamboo lining is kind to delicate newborn skin and will help to regulate their temperature as the seasons change. As your child grows, the head hugger can be removed to leave behind a stylish puffer jacket-style footmuff or cosy winter seat liner.

For protection from the elements (because we know how volatile British weather can be!), Cosy Pod’s outer fabrics are fully water resistant, so they’ll keep your little one warm and dry if you’re caught in a rain shower. Inside there’s also a water-resistant foot area to protect against muddy shoes and damp feet after splashing in puddles.

Tell us about the sustainable side.

Bringing a sustainable element to GetGo was top of our agenda when looking at the re-design. With the world changing fast, it was so important to do our bit to help protect the environment.

The use of innovative fabrics created using recycled yarns from plastic bottles is what sets GetGo above the rest. There are a total of 56 recycled plastic bottles in the seat unit, hood, seat liner and carrycot hood, so you can rest assured GetGo is putting household waste to good use. Your GetGo will also arrive in FSC certified packaging, which is not only fully recyclable, but great for making kids’ spaceships too!

And when you no longer have use for your GetGo, there’s the option to have it refreshed via the Silver Cross Valet & Service scheme so you can either pass it on or donate to a family in need through our charity partner Baby Basics.
