Car Seat Crash Replacement: Our Guarantee to You

At Silver Cross, we value your child’s safety above everything else.

That’s why every Silver Cross car seat is now covered by our Car Seat Crash Replacement Scheme.

If you’re involved in a road traffic accident, no matter how minor, your car seat must be replaced, even if there is no visible damage. The impact may have caused unseen internal damage, which could stop your car seat from protecting your child correctly in the future.

Replacement car seats are usually covered under your vehicle’s insurance policy, and this should always be your first option after an accident.

If your Silver Cross car seat is covered by insurance, we will provide a letter for your insurance company to confirm it is no longer safe and needs to be replaced.

In circumstances where your insurance does not cover your Silver Cross car seat, or the full cost of a replacement, we will provide a like for like replacement free of charge provided you meet the criteria set out below. We will also collect the original car seat, which will then be recycled as part of our car seat recycling scheme.

To be eligible for the Car Seat Crash Replacement Scheme, you must:

  1. be a resident of the United Kingdom (“UK”), and have a postal address in the UK;

  2. be the registered owner of the vehicle that was involved in a road traffic accident, and which contained the Silver Cross car seat; and

  3. have valid motor insurance that covers you to drive the vehicle on UK roads (third party insurance being the minimum cover).

Please note, before a free of charge replacement car seat is provided, we will require:

  1. Proof of address.

  2. Confirmation from your insurer that your car seat is not covered under your insurance policy.

  3. An accurate description of the road traffic accident. In this description, please include the speed you were going at the time of the accident, the direction of impact, what you collided with and whether your child was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

  4. Picture(s) of your vehicle after the accident, showing as much detail of any damage caused (as possible).

  5. Picture(s) of the Silver Cross car seat that was inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, showing as much detail of any damage caused (as possible).

  6. A certificate of insurance (or equivalent), showing you had valid motor insurance at the time of the accident.

  7. A copy of your completed insurance claim and/or police report.

  8. A copy of your purchase receipt of the Silver Cross car seat from an authorised Silver Cross retailer.

Please note that a cash alternative is not available.
