Choosing your first travel system? Here’s everything to consider.
There’s lots to think about when choosing your perfect travel system. How and where will you use it? Are you an urban dweller strolling busy city streets, or an adventure seeker tackling different terrains? How many little ones does it need to carry now or in the future?
Your baby’s wheels come in all shapes and sizes so if you’re confused by all the options, we’re here to help!
What is a travel system?
Travel systems are essentially prams that can be used with a compatible infant carrier in place of the carrycot or pushchair seat. It’s a great option for carrying a sleepy baby from pram to car without too much disturbance, as you simply attach the car seat straight to the chassis.
All of our travel systems can be used with the Silver Cross Dream i-Size and Simplicity Plus infant carriers, which are available separately or as part of a bundle.
I have a newborn and a toddler. Which Silver Cross travel system is best for me?
If you’re hoping to have a second child soon after the first, a single pram that converts to a double is your best option. Rather than buying a new double pram, simply reconfigure the one you have to carry a newborn and toddler.
The Silver Cross Wave 21 is the ultimate single to double travel system, allowing you to choose from seven configurations straight out of the box. Beautifully crafted and luxurious, Wave can carry one, two or even three little passengers – think of it as future proofing for parents!
By adding an optional tandem seat, second carrycot or ride-on-board (all sold separately), you can choose from up to 30 configurations. Also suitable for twins, Wave can be used with two carrycots, pushchair seats or car seats.
I love being outdoors and need a travel system that’s reliable.
Bigger wheels are best for dealing with rugged terrain, while all-wheel suspension protects little ones from any bumps in the road.
The Silver Cross Pioneer 21 won’t hold you back, wherever your journey takes you. Comfort is key for those muddy adventures, but Pioneer’s never-wear, multi-terrain tyres and four-way suspension provide optimum handling, ensuring the smoothest ride.
I’m looking for an all-round travel system that’s stylish, comfortable and durable.
The Silver Cross Coast is our go-to travel system for all three – it’s effortlessly stylish, has four-way suspension to ensure a smooth ride and you can always rely on its sturdy magnesium and aluminium frame.
Coast’s timeless design looks sleek and contemporary against any backdrop, be it the capital’s skyscrapers or a rural village. The easy-action fold means it’s hassle-free when it comes to storing and travelling, while the patented seat elevation brings baby closer to you.
Which travel system do you recommend for urban living?
Urban dwellers should choose prams with a small footprint that are easy to push on city streets. It should be quick to fold, light to pick up and compact to store.
Effortless to push and manoeuvre, the stylish Silver Cross Wayfarer fits all these criteria. Inline wheels make those urban strolls a breeze, while the compact design and easy one-piece fold make getting out with baby super easy every time.
